What is the process for whitening my teeth?

The process for whitening teeth begins with taking impressions of your upper and lower teeth. From these impression, custom bleaching trays are fabricated by our office staff. These custom trays are worn by patients at home and allow for a more even and effective whitening of teeth. The bleaching material used has a stronger concentration than is used in over the counter materials, which leads to faster results.

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

Patients with healthy gums should get their teeth cleaned every six months. Research has shown that patients with gum disease (periodontal disease) should get their teeth cleaned every three months. Going to see the dentist on a routine basis allows for problems to be detected early and be treated less invasively.

What is a pocket?

A periodontal pocket represents the space between the tooth and the gum. In patients with periodontal disease, harmful bacteria in this space creates an infection resulting in the loss of bone and gum tissue creating a pocket.

Why do I need x-rays?

A good dental exam is not complete without x-rays. Having updated x-rays are extremely important for diagnosing decay, bone loss around teeth, and pathology in patient’s mouth that cannot be detected during routine exams. The development of digital x-rays has greatly reduced the amount of radiaton in comparison to conventional x-rays.

What are my options for replacing missing teeth?
